08.17.09 - 10.01.09 ~ Suspension Upgrades
  • I brought my car to Mayeda Motorsports. We had planned on installing the following:
    • CPP mini subframe kit (lower tubular control arms, crossmember, new ball joints)
    • 1 inch drop coils
    • disc brakes w/ power booster
    • 5 lug rear end
    • 1 inch lowering blocks
    • 5 lug wheels and new tires
      • 14x6 with 3.5" bs, 195/60/14 tires
      • 15x7 with 4.5" bs, 225/60/15 tires
  • In the end, we also installed the following because of worn out parts/fitment issues
    • upper tubular control arms
      • Ball joints and bushings were bad on old arms.
      • New arms included these, and weren't much more expensive than just the ball joints and bushings.
    • idler bearing arm conversion
    • spring perches
    • leaf spring bushings
    • 15x7 wheels with 5" bs for rear
      • The centers from the 4.5" bs wheels were put on new 'hoops.'
  • The car handles and stops great now. The only issue that needs attention is some rubbing on the passenger side quarter when making a right hand turn.

  • Figured out what's needed for the install and ordered items if possible:
    • Side Covers - not necessary, but old ones are beat up

      • 292 suppport bracket will not work with 250 pickup (see pics)
    • Modify Offy Valve Cover for PCV
    • Fuel Delivery
      • 7/16 stainless fuel lines
      • New gas tank
      • fuel pump
      • carb rebuild kit
      • Offy carb linkage

07.30.09 - 08.16.09 ~ Painting engine and components
POR 15 Engine Paint
  • Painted with POR 15 engine enamel top coat
    • engine degreased
    • hit all surfaces with wire brush
    • prepped/cleaned with Marine Clean and Metal-Ready
  • Had problems with sprayer adjustments/thickness of paint/not knowing what I'm doing
    • finish isn't consistent
